A classic Norwegian novel, The Half Brother tells the story of Benny, an orphan who learns that his father has had a son with another woman. Out Stealing Horses follows Trond Sander as he deals with his grief following his wife’s death and reflects on his past when he moves to rural Norway after retiring from work. Hunger is considered one of Norway’s seminal works of literature and is often viewed as an early example of modernist literature due its experimental form and psychological themes. It follows an unnamed narrator as he wanders around Oslo trying to make ends meet while dealing with poverty and isolation caused by his extreme hunger throughout the course of several months – from May until August – without ever finding any meaningful resolution or contentment at its conclusion.

Described as “an intense psychological thriller,” The Redbreast centers around Harry Hole – an alcoholic detective working for the Oslo Police Department – as he investigates a series of murders related to the mysterious neo-Nazi organization called “The Fathers” which could potentially be connected to Hole’s traumatic childhood experiences during World War II era Norway when he became an orphan after losing both parents at an early age due to Nazi occupation forces invading their small village at that time period.. Along this journey, readers have their eyes opened not just to modern Norwegian culture but also how it’s still haunted by its dark past filled with war crimes committed nearly 80 years ago making them question whether progress made since then can truly heal these wounds or if they’re deeply embedded within society itself.
