Three Poems

I sometimes write short poems to process my emotions.

Although I initially felt hesitant to share them because they are personal and probably not that good, I decided to do so anyway.

After reading Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act, I realized that art is sharing a human experience through one’s personal lens in the hope that others will resonate with it. It’s neither good nor bad, and the artist’s only responsibility is creating and sharing the art.

So here we go.

1. To Friendships

To the friends I never met,
Or only for some minutes.

To the ones that changed my life,
Without even knowing.

To those who are close and far,
And not close but never far.

To those who don’t matter,
But have the biggest impact.

2. A Fleeting Love

A smile
A question
A card
The touch of an arm

A beer,
And another one
A stroll
A look in your eyes

The spark of excitement
Of getting to know you
A faint feeling of love?

A conversation that flows,
Into waves of kisses,
Broken into short scenes,
By streets, one per one.

A walk home,
In a world far away,
A kiss,
And another,

And a final one goodnight,
Followed by dreams.
And then…
Nothing

3. Homesick

My eyes still in a dreamy state.
Am I back already?

The lushly green at the background of a glass and concrete city,
Fill my heart with a flash of happiness.

My thoughts drift far away,
To memories of love and laughter,
On beaches invisible from this window.

Torn between two worlds,
I wonder, should I return, stay, or wander?

Thank You For Reading

I really appreciate you taking the time to read something so personal.

If you want to leave a comment, I’d very much appreciate it.

If you’ve written short stories or poems yourself and have been afraid to share them, this is your sign from the universe to share it! Just put it in the comments 🙂
